17 year old pianist Alejandro González Gerwig is considered one of the most promising German pianists of his generation. Born into a family of musicians on May 7 2007 in Salzburg Austria he took his first piano lessons at the age of three with his parents Christine Gerwig and Efraín González, both concert pianists.
Soon after, he started winning competitions, as there are Henle competition, Steinway Hamburg, Bechstein Berlin, young pianists competitions in Essen, Nürnberg, Munich etc. At the age of 8 he gave his debut in the famous Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, winning the first prize in Steinway competition.
His orchestral debut took place in Guadalajara, Mexico at the age of 11 together with his parents, performing the Concerto for three pianos and orchestra by Mozart together with Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and Ricardo Casero.
In the same year he entered Precollege Cologne with Prof. Fabio Bidini (now head of piano department at Colburn school, Los Angeles) and has studied with him ever since.
He is 1st prize winner of the Bechstein competition 2022, Westfälischer Klavierwettbewerb Van-Bremen Dortmund 2023, the National German Youth competition „Jugend musiziert“ 2023 and the Beethoven Bonnensis competition and the prize for the best interpretation of a work by Beethoven 2021.
At 14 he made his solo orchestral debut in Germany with Grieg Concerto with the Bergische Symphoniker and Alexander Rumpf.
He is a very active chamber musician and plays with his sister Valeria (pianoduo, duo violin piano and duo viola piano) as well as with different prize winning young German musicians. Alejandro is currently the youngest Bachelor student in Germany, having started his studies in the Hochschule in Cologne at the age of 16.
The Hochschule in Cologne awarded him the scholarship PROMOS for his participation in a masterclass in Brescia with the worldwide known famous French pianist Pascal Rogé in July 2024.
He is a student of Prof. Fabian Müller. He has worked with Jerome Rose, Alexandre Tharaud, Alexandre Kantorow, François-Xavier Roth, Jorge Federico Osorio, Polina Leschenko, Aleksandar Mazdar, Dina Parakhina, Herbert Schuch, Dirk Kaftan and Enrique Batiz.
Alejandro was the youngest musician performing in the Gala for Beethoven's 250th anniversary in Bonn, the concert was broadcasted in television and radio and listened to several millions times.
He appeared in German TV with Thomas Gottschalk on the show „Little Big Stars“, in local programs of the WDR, in Mexican and Latinamerican television and was interviewed by the Deutsche Welle and Telemundo Miami. .
