Alejandro González Gerwig was born on May 7, 2007 in Salzburg, Austria. At the age of three he began piano lessons with his parents, Christine Gerwig and Efraín González Ruano, both concert pianists who graduated from the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Since the age of five he has won several national and international competitions, such as the Steinway in Hamburg in 2015 and 2019, the Bechstein 2016, the Henle, the German national competition Jugend musiziert, the international piano competition in Wiesbaden, the international competition in Villahermosa, the international competition for young people in Essen and others. He performs in halls such as the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Philharmonie Köln, the Philharmonie Essen and the Beethoven Haus in Beethoven’s birthplace. He has been invited to give concerts in Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Jena, Monheim and Aarhus (Denmark) and Bergen (Norway). In 2016 he went on tour in Mexico, performing in Guadalajara (Teatro Degollado), Morelia (Conservarorio de las Rosas) and Tijuana (Cecut).
In 2018 he made his debut with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra with Mozart’s concerto for three pianos with his parents under the baton of Ricardo Casero. Alejandro has also been invited several times on German television, including on the German edition of “Little Big Stars”.
Together with her sister Valeria, she offers concerts in social projects for children in public schools in Nepal in 2019 .
In 2019 he entered the Precollege of the University of Music in Cologne with teacher Prof. Fabio Bidini, specializing in piano.
In 2020 he was invited several times as a little Beethoven at the Bonn Opera and other Beethoven-related events. On 16 December 2020 he was invited to the grand gala ” Beethoven Night” of the Beethoven Orchestra in Bonn, which was broadcast live on radio and television and listened to and watched by an audience of several million people.
In 2021, he won first place in the Beethoven – Bonnensis competition in Bonn, in addition to winning the special prize for the best interpretation of Beethoven’s work, being the first in the history of the competition to win both prizes in the same competition, and he was interviewed by Deutsche Welle in Spanish. This interview caused a sensation throughout Latin America. Alejandro has been invited to make podcasts on German radio in broadcasts to bring children closer to music. He was also interviewed by Telemundo Miami.
In 2021, she won first place in the Jugend Musiziert competition in Germany in the piano duo category with her sister Valeria Erandi, achieving the highest score of all participants from Germany. The duo also received several special awards, such as the special prize of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the special prize for the most successful duo of the Bechstein Foundation.
In 2022 he makes his European orchestral debut with the Edward Grieg Concerto with the Bergische Symphoniker and conductor Alexander Rumpf in Cologne
In October 2022 he won first prize at the Bechstein solo piano competition in Berlin.
In 2023 he won first prize at the Jugend Musiziert competition, first prize at the Van Bremen competition in Dortmund, first prize at the Bechstein piano duo competition in Berlin and the special prizes for contemporary music (Ligeti) at the Beethoven Bonnensis and Van- Bremen. He is also awarded a scholarship from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben foundation in 2023 to participate in the International Piano Festival in Malaga.
In October 2023, he was admitted to the solo pianist course at the Cologne University of Music at the age of 16, being the youngest student in Germany to study high school with the teachers Anthony Spiri, Gesa Lücker and Fabio Bidini. He has also taken master classes with Alexandre Tharaud, Jorge Federico Osorio, Leif Ove Andsnes, Pascal Rogé, Alexander Kantorow, Zlata Chochieva, H å vard Gimse, Anthony Spiri, Enrique Bátiz, Polina Leschenko, Jeremy Rose, Herbert Schuch, Gesa Lücker and Dina Parakhina. The pianist Jorge Luis Prats follows his career with great interest.
Currently Alejandro is involved in several projects in chamber music ensembles, with Violin, Clarinet, Viola, various singers (German Lied) and Quartet.
